Dennemeyer's IP Quiz earns a €20,000 donation for global reforestation
For its 2019 IP Quiz donation campaign, the Dennemeyer Group selected PRIMAKLIMA, a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and expansion of forests and actively fighting climate change for nearly 30 years. In less than three weeks, more than 250 participants played 1,228 games and made for another donation success.
Dennemeyer for the planet is campaigning to stop the destruction of the world's ecosystems, and in 2019, the group focused on the most fragile ones – our forests. Each correct answer in the winter edition of the IP Quiz earned a €2 donation to PRIMAKLIMA for the planting of 7,000 trees in Nicaragua. Like every year, the panel game ended with a championship, and the three finalists received kits of products that support the recycling and avoiding of ocean plastic.
"Trees are climate's real protectors because they clean our air of the greenhouse gases and are home to many plant and animal species," said Tobias Diebold, Dennemeyer's Chief Commercial Officer. "We see reforestation as not only a process of replanting forest areas but one of supplying clean air and water, wildlife habitats and jobs for generations to come. As an old proverb says, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."Reforestation and afforestation, although different in action, are both effective strategies in fighting global warming. Restocking existing forests or planting new ones on previously un-wooded areas helps the environment by reducing the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, making the soil more fertile and restoring animal habitats.
"Forests offer enormous potential to fight the climate crisis. I am grateful to our donors who enable us to plant and protect forests," said Lars Forjahn, Executive Director at PRIMAKLIMA.
Last year, Dennemeyer donated the amount collected through the IP Quiz to help reduce the input of plastic waste in our oceans and see nature be plastic-free by 2030. In 2018, the donation went to projects protecting nature's values, while in 2015 and 2016, Dennemeyer donated the funds from this quiz to humanitarian projects in Congo and Iraq. Although the campaign ended, you can still play for fun.
